News Workflow after January 2025

If you are reading this then you are towards the end of preparing for moving your IRI to its own website.

The process for getting news onto you site is now very simple. Every News item should have the Core Research Area selected.

For instance GTMI is "Manufacturing, Trade, and Logistics" - That is it. From there Mercury sends the news item to news.research.gatech.edu and then it gets sent as a version to manufacturing.gatech.edu (As an example).

ARTY Frontpage

There is a content type called Frontpage that is to be used for the front/home page of the website.

Question: Can Anyone Edit a Frontpage page?

Add a new item of that content type, set the Title to Home and the URL Alias to /home, and fill out the other fields based on the design documents for the specific website.

Once created, be sure to go to Configuration -> System -> Basic Site Settings and set Default front page to /home.

News -Current Process

If you need history, ask. Otherwise let's go...

Currently everyone but Matter and Systems follows this. Most if not all News and Events feeds are Manual Feeds in Mercury. I only know of one for Research Horizons group that is automatic. When you website gets moved off of research.gatech.edu you will follow the Automatic Process that IMS is currently managed under.

We can figure out exactly, Please schedule a meeting through a ticket and we will gather the information and share with you.

People - Renaming a Person

Hi. So, you want to change the official name of a person, maybe they are moving up the ranks or putting their name in the hat for a Directors role. Great. BUT WAIT - this will effect the page on the other websites. Meaning the persons name - which is also the title of their profile page - is the url path of that page. Changing it changes the url path. It also changes and updates the websites that it gets pushed too. So, you just made a second page or profile for that person.
